Situation

We were approached by an organisation who had purchased a B747 Freighter previously maintained under an MSG 3 maintenance programme. The remainder of the fleet were under MSG 2 and therefore, we set the aircraft up in their systems and created a bridging check to move the aircraft between the two philosophies. The benefit being fleet commonality leading to efficiencies and risk mitigation for the operator.

Solution

As part of the same, we also placed an experienced engineer in Indonesia with the aircraft to progress the check to a timely conclusion. As is the case any time with a large work package, there is always a risk of issues arising.

Results

Our engineer supported those issues and ensured the costs and man hours assigned to the additional work were within reason, agreed by the operator and were reflected correctly on the MRO invoice.
